Application submission deadline:
15 Oct 2016 - 23:45

Each student of the 4th year MSc course in physics/astronomy/computer sciences (preferably elementary particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, application of computers in physics, or a similar specialization) is invited to join the Warsaw Neutrino Group (http://neutrino.fuw.edu.pl/) as a scholar in the Indirect Detection of Dark Matter Particles Using Water-Based Detectors of Neutrinos research project. The project team members will participate in works of an international team assigned the task to develop the KM3NeT neutrino telescope in waters of the Mediterranean Sea (http://www.km3net.org/). Some involvement in works conducted at the Super-Kamiokande neutrino detector operated in Japan (http://www-sk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp/sk/index-e.html) is also planned.

The successful candidate will use Monte Carlo techniques to analyse large sets of data on atmospheric neutrinos and space-born muons to determine background in astrophysical research with the KM3NeT detector. Participation in development of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope software and/or hardware or running the Super-Kamiokande detector is not excluded.
