The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of Professor of the Institute in Theoretical Physics Division (BP2) based in Warsaw.

Location:  National Centre for Nuclear Research, 7 Pasteur Street, 02-093 Warsaw

Scientific discipline: physics

The candidate is expected to have the habilitation degree and a documented expertise in gravitational physics including quantization of gravitational models.

Description of tasks:

As a member of the Theoretical Physics Division the successful candidate will conduct research in the field of gravitational physics with particular emphasis on quantum gravitational effects of early universe and their observational signatures. The candidate is expected to build, within the structures of the Department, her/his own research group dedicated to the above mentioned topics.

The candidate is expected to have:

  • experience in developing research both individually and within international teams;
  • significant scientific contributions in the field of gravitational physics with particular emphasis on cosmology and possible quantum effects of the gravitational field;
  • very good expertise in the fundamental tools of quantum cosmology such as cosmological perturbation theory, canonical analysis of constrained systems, quantization methods and semi-classical descriptions;
  • experience in international collaboration;
  • a record of successful research grant applications;
  • experience in leading research projects and in team management, confirmed by realization of group research grants as principal investigator;
  • experience in supervising PhD students;
  • good spoken and written English skills;
  • experience in graduate-level lecturing is an advantage
