National Centre for Nuclear Research in Otwock announces opening of the competition for the position of Professor of the Institute in the Electronics and Detection System Division of the Department of Nuclear Techniques & Equipment (DTJ).

Description of the unit:
DTJ conducts scientific research in the field of construction of apparatus used in nuclear and X-ray physics experiments, in the diagnostics of high-temperature plasma for industry, medicine and other applications. IN DTJ we design and build electronics dedicated to nuclear equipment, mainly focused on detection and data analysis techniques in the field of atomic and nuclear physics, and plasma diagnostics. The control and imaging software for industrial diagnostic devices is developed here as well. DTJ boasts an extensive domestic and foreign cooperation. Among the latter are laboratories from France, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, USA, Russia, and China. Scientists interested in applied science, both as a part of fundaments research, and industrial applications can find here a suitable environment for pursuing their ambitions.

The successful candidate will organize the work of the research team at the Department of Electronics and Detection Systems (TJ2) at NCBJ in Świerk. Additional information about the TJ2 division is available on its website: https://old.ncbj.gov.pl/tj2.

Among the expected duties are:

  • Acquiring financing sources in the form of external projects,
  • Implementation of projects and statutory tasks of the unit,
  • Publication of scientific results,
  • Promotion of the scientific development of colleagues by creating the environment for personal development and obtaining academic degrees.

Profile of competences and expectations

The successful candidate is expected to poses the following skills and achievements:

  • The academic title of Professor or the academic degree of Doctor of Science in the field of technical sciences, along with the adequately documented scientific achievements.
  • Due to the profile of the division’s activity, the preferred expertise is nuclear physics or the construction and application of electronics in large physical experiments.
  • Experience in managing an interdisciplinary research team.
  • Experience in the implementation of scientific projects. Experience in strictly commercial projects is welcome.
  • Knowledge of the English language fluent enough, to enable unrestricted cooperation in the international scientific environment.

Additional advantage:

  • Knowledge of the Polish language.
  • Knowledge of another language is considered be an additional advantage. Among the preferred are French, German, Italian, Swedish or Russian, i.e. the most common languages of our foreign cooperators.
