Holders of the PhD degree in physics (preferably elementary particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, application of computers in physics, or a similar specialization) are invited to apply for a position of a post-doc in the Indirect Detection of Dark Matter Particles Using Water-Based Detectors of Neutrinos research project (SONATA BIS – ST grant) run by the Warsaw Neutrino Group (http://neutrino.fuw.edu.pl/). The project team members will participate in works of the international team assigned the task to develop the KM3NeT neutrino telescope in waters of the Mediterranean Sea (http://www.km3net.org/). Some involvement in works conducted at the Super-Kamiokande neutrino detector operated in Japan (http://www-sk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp/sk/index-e.html) is also planned (some scientists working at that detector have been awarded with the 2015 Nobel prize in physics).
The successful candidate is expected to study sensitivity of new generation neutrino telescopes developed to search for dark matter particles, to analyse experimental data acquired by the telescopes, to participate in development of the KM3NeT telescope hardware and software, etc. Specifics of the job will depend on individual preferences of the successful candidate.
Funding necessary to cover travel costs to cooperating institutions in Europe/Japan and costs of participation in relevant international scientific conferences/workshops has been allocated in the project budget.
