Associate professor position
at the Laboratory for Material Research
We are looking for a person with a PhD / DSc degree in chemistry or material engineering. The chosen candidate will be employed in an associate professor position. The person hired will join the team researching materials for nuclear applications and chemical analytics. Work in LBM involves maintaining the accreditation held by the Laboratory of Structural, Chemical and Corrosive Research.
The Laboratory for Material Research conducts research, re-approval and diagnostic works on construction materials and their welded joints in the field of widely understood materials science, using destructive and non-destructive methods. Non-irradiated and irradiated materials are tested.
The main area of interest are measurements of functional properties of construction materials as well as modeling and analysis of structural properties. LBM has PCA accreditation in the field of material testing. The laboratory conducts international cooperation with France, Japan, Germany, South Africa and Italy.
Location: Otwock - Świerk (Poland) - in the outskirts of Warsaw with daily transport services provided.
Candidates for the new position are expected to demonstrate the skills in:
- experimental chemistry and analytical chemistry experience, especially for materials such as metal alloys, oxides, carbides and nitrides.
- experience in research on the synthesis of chemical compounds in various chemical forms (by different chemical methods)
- knowledge and experience in working in a laboratory dealing with active materials (IOR-1 qualifications),
- practical experience in obtaining grants and industrial orders, including cooperation in European projects,
- experience in working in an international environment
- basic knowledge about the system of certification and accreditation of scientific research
- proven experience in supervision of PhD and/or M.Sc. students
- good command of spoken and written English,
Desirable traits of the Candidate will be:
- teamwork skills, communication skills, responsibility, ingenuity,
- scientific achievements confirmed by publications (min. 10), patents (min. 3) and participation in research projects (min. 5)
- experience in giving lectures and scientific seminars for students
