at The Plasma/Ion Beam Technology Division (FM2)

The National Center for Nuclear Research opens a competition for the position of assistant professor at the Plasma/Ion Beam Technology Division (FM2). We are looking for a person with a doctoral degree in physical sciences or a doctor of technical sciences in the field of materials engineering; the selected person will be employed as an assistant professor. The employee will join the team that conducts research on the analysis of defects in materials using the backscattering method (RBS and RBS/c), including the development of Monte Carlo simulation technique. 

Location: Świerk near Otwock (we provide commuting by employee buses from Warsaw, Otwock and Garwolin).

Candidates for the new position are expected to demonstrate the skills in:

  • experience in structural material analyses with methods using ion beams
  • knowledge of the crystalline structure of materials with particular emphasis on monocrystalline materials
  • experience in computer simulations, including programming in C++
  • practical experience in obtaining grants and industrial contracts, including cooperation within European projects
  • experience in working in an international environment

Desirable qualities of the Candidate will be :

  • teamwork skills, communication skills, responsibility, ingenuity
  • good command of spoken and written English
  • scientific achievements confirmed by publications (min. 10) and participation in research projects
  • experience in giving lectures and scientific seminars for students
