Assistant Professor in modelling of stochastic processes and reliability analyses

NCBJ opens a competition to fill up a vacancy at a position of Assistant Professor in Division of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies (UZ3) located in Świerk. The successful candidate must meet requirements specified in par. 43 of Act on Research Institutes passed on April 30, 2010 (Dz.U. 96 pos. 618).
Stochastic processes have been modelled and reliability analyses conducted in the MANHAZ Threat Analyses Centre of NCBJ Division of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies (formerly the MANHAZ Management of Health and Environmental Hazards Centre) for years. Probabilistic safety analyses of nuclear reactors/industrial facilities and reliability/environmental studies require application of some advanced statistical methods, in particular the Bayes techniques. The successful candidate must be proficient in statistical data processing methods and have programming skills. He/she will need to master methods of safety assessment of nuclear and industrial chemical facilities.
Requirements:
- PhD in mathematics, physics or technical sciences

Documented scientific output in applied mathematics of mathematical physics, in particular applications in at least two of the following fields:
- statistical methods, in particular Bayesian statistics
- digital computing
- reliability assessment
- modelling of stochastic processes
- probabilitstic safety analyses of nuclear reactors
- Analytical skills
- Both team-work and unassisted work skills
- Programminig skills (Unix/Linux, C/C++, script languages)
- Good command of English language.
