ERC has opened up the Consolidator Grants competition

European Research Council (ERC) has opened up the ERC Consolidator Grants competition for grants targeted at scientists wishing to strengthen their teams/research programme and to enhance their scientific independence. Candidates from all countries are eligible. They must have received their PhD degree not less than 7 and not more than 12 years before January 1, 2016. Institution in which their project is to be accomplished must be located in an EU country or in a coutry associated with the Horizon 2020 programme. Candidates are free to select project subject and scope, however interdisciplinary, scientifically risky projects that have a large potential of bringing breakthrough discoveries/producing other breakthrough results will be favoured.

The programme budget is 605 million euro. It is envisaged that more than 300 projects will be funded (maximum grant is 2 million euro for 5 years). Application submission deadline is February 2, 2016.
