Recruitment for doctoral studies PHD4GEN still ongoing

Invitation to apply for remaining Ph.D. studentships in new reactor technologies at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), Otwock-Warszawa, Poland

National Center for Nuclear Research still invites applications for a 5-year doctoral studies in reactor physics within the framework of the project “New reactor concepts and safety analyses for the Polish Nuclear Energy Program” POWR.03.02.00-00.I005/17-02. The project will be devoted to the research in the new high temperature reactor technologies: HTGR – High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor and DFR - Dual Fluid Reactor, which were indicated in the report of the Polish Ministry of Energy Committee for Deployment of High Temperature Reactors.

The studies will cover 16 topical lecture courses devoted to new reactor technologies. Each student will have a chance to pay a month visit in a renowned worldwide research institution performing the research in the field. The topical summer school on the new reactor technologies is planned in June 2019. Successful candidates will be offered a monthly grant of 1900 PLN exclusively from the project on top of the regular stipend of 2200 PLN offered for every Ph.D. student at NCBJ.

All the candidates with both science and engineering undergraduate degrees are welcome to apply though a very strong educational background is expected from the candidates. Preference will be given to the candidates with a very good undergraduate studies score, some research record, and with some previous experience in high temperature reactors. In order to apply the candidates should provide the following documents: 1) Cover letter; 2) Curriculum Vitae; 3) Academic transcripts (scanned); 4) Thesis; 5) University degree; 6) List of publications and patents; 6) List of attended conferences, projects, internships, and other scientific activity including high temperature reactors experience. Besides, each candidate should arrange a confidential letter of recommendation to be sent directly to Prof. Mariusz Dąbrowski.

There is no application deadline. This call is open until all positions are filled. The time schedule for the exam will be set on the individual basis after submission of all required documents. In case of admittance, an exact date to start the studies will be negotiated on individual basis.
