NRC delegation visit

The guest was accompanied by representatives of the Commission and the US Embassy in Warsaw, including the deputy head of mission, Mr. Daniel J. Lawton. The guests met with the Institute's management, learned information about our main research priorities and visited the MARIA reactor.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is the government agency responsible for regulating the safety and environmental protection of nuclear energy in the United States. The NRC was created in 1974 as a result of the Three Mile Island disaster.
The NRC is an independent government agency that reports to the United States Congress and is charged with: authorizing the construction and operation of nuclear reactors, supervising nuclear reactor operations, investigating nuclear accidents, and promoting the safety and environmental protection of nuclear energy.
