Results of gamma spectroscopic measurements taken in NCBJ on soil samples acquired in two Polish polar stations:
• The Stanisław Siedlecki North Pole Station (Hornsund)
• The Henryk Arctowski South Pole Station (King George Island)
will be presented.
Options for POLFEL accelerator cryogenic system including cost estimate, production timetable, possible cooperation between NCBJ, Wroclaw University of Technology and the Kriosytem sp. z o. o. comnpany will be presented.

The two things that should be clarified before any discussion on influence of ionizing radiation on living organisms are: (i) organism characteristics of the interest; and (ii) how various type ionizing radiation interacts with living cells, tissues, organs, and the entire organisms. The topics are very broad, therefore my lecture will only give a draft of an approach to the issue. However, even such a limited knowledge may help to predict effects of irradiating living organisms.

The BioQuaRT project has been running for three years within framework of the EMRP programme run by EURAMET (Poland is a member of that organization). NCBJ participated in works performed within the projec's Work Package 2 "Nanodosimetry”. Project's expiry on May 31, 2015 is a good occasion to present results of those works. There is a chance that a similar project may be approved within framework of the EMPiR programme.
