Technical and research specialist | Nuclear Equipment & Technology Department

Competition opened on:
8 Feb 2021 - 08:00
Application submission deadline:
1 Mar 2021 - 23:45

National Centre for Nuclear Research is the largest research Institute in Poland. We are also the only Polish research institution operating a nuclear reactor (the MARIA reactor). Our fundamental research includes experimental and theoretical efforts to discover the most fundamental laws of nature. To that end we have been participating in large international research consortia organized to delve deep into the smallest elements the matter is composed of, as well as have been building our own observation robots designed to stare into the deep skies. We conduct reactor research, including works on nuclear fuel elements and nuclear system safety studies. We investigate hot plasmas from the point of view of their possible future applications in thermonuclear power industry.

The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens a competition for the position at Radiation Detectors and Plasma Diagnostics Division, Nuclear Equipment & Technology Department.

The activity of the Division is focuses on research and development works in the field of ionizing radiation detection techniques, in particular based on various types of scintillation materials and light readout using a wide range of photodetectors.

The Division develops passive and active measurement methods for conducting experiments in the field of nuclear physics and hot plasma diagnostics. We conduct research on the emission of X and gamma rays, fast electrons, ions and neutrons from plasma in research devices such as Rod Plasma Injectors (RPI), Plasma-Focus (PF), Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) and in tokamak traps.

Workplace: Otwock - Świerk (Poland) - in the outskirts of Warsaw with daily transport services provided.

Short description of tasks:

  • Experimental work in research devices like Plasma-Focus
  • Performing measurements of neutron, Cherenkov radiation and optical emission spectroscopy using detectors and methods developed in the team.
  • Analysis of measurement results.
  • Performing  Monte Carlo simulation.
  • Support for other activities carried out in the Department.
