The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens a competition for the position of professor of institute at the Plasma and Ion Technology Division FM2 Material Physics Department based in Otwock / Świerk.

Scientific discipline: physics, experimental physics

Apart from the professor title, the candidate is expected to have documented knowledge in the field of solid state physics and experience in the field of research of structural and functional properties of materials. Desirable experience in the of studies of radiation damage of materials using ion beams, use of Ion Beam Analysis (including RBS and RBS/C techniques), diffraction and microscopic methods.

Candidate should demonstrate practical experience in heading large research projects and large groups. In particular, the candidate is expected to demonstrate:

  • experience in the practical use and development of experimental techniques (ion-beam techniques, analysis and modification of solids, phase analysis, functional properties);
  • scientific achievements in the field of experimental solid state physics confirmed by publications;
  • experience in working in an international environment;
  • good, documented and practical knowledge of experimental techniques used to measure materials using structural and functional methods;
  • documented experience in acquiring and heading large research projects, governing personnel teams, team work skills, readiness to participate in work carried out in international institutions;
  • good knowledge of English in speech and writing, desirable knowledge of another language.
