Abstract: 

These days we are witnessing several profound transformations of military technologies. Gradual transition from the technique of catapulting projectiles by means of some explosives to the technique of propelling them by means of pulsed electromagnetic field is among such revolutionary transformations. NCBJ has means and know-how necessary to actively enter that field of research with the objective to improve national defence potential.

Topics to be presented during the seminar include:

  • Brief outline of electrodynamic methods of accelerating massive objects
  • Acceleration mechanism and technological constraints in “coilgun” cannons
  • Perspectives of R&D works on coilguns in NCBJ.
