Student projects

General requirements and conditions for candidates for student projects

The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) announces the possibility of applying for master and pre-master (second level) student stipends for work on different aspects of the search at the LHC signal of "new physics", such as supersymmetry.

Studentships are intended for the implementation of projects in the field of theoretical particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. Projects will be performed under the supervision of prof. L. Roszkowski (NCBJ / Univ. of Sheffield) as part of the program Welcome funded by the Foundation for Polish Science.

The studentships, each for the amount of 1000 PLN /month optimally apply up to 12-month period, with the starting date as early as 1 August 2015 and the ending date not exceeding 31 December 2015.

Requirements:

        • completed 3rd year of undergraduate studies
        • English language skills;
        • basic knowledge of particle physics and/or Bayesian inference bases and/or parallel and multi-thread programming;

Other desirable skills:

        • general knowledge of the topic of searches for supersymmetry at the LHC;
        • general knowledge of the foundations of cosmology, in particular of dark matter
        • programming skills in Fortran and/or C++;
